At the Armer Foundation, we meet families like Diego’s every day—families whose lives change in an instant. For Diego, that moment came at age four during

what should have been a carefree summer vacation in California. Instead, it became the start of his battle with B-cell Acute Lymphoblastic Leukemia (ALL).

It began with leg, foot, and back pain, relentless fatigue, and unexplained bruises. When blood tests revealed abnormal levels and anemia, Diego’s family was rushed to Stanford Hospital. A bone marrow biopsy delivered the heartbreaking diagnosis, and treatment—chemotherapy, hospital stays, and countless appointments—began immediately. The early mo
nths were relentless: nausea, vomiting, exhaustion, and hair loss tested Diego’s spirit. Yet, through every setback and step forward, he’s shown breathtaking resilience.
Diego reached remission after the grueling consolidation phase, a milestone we celebrated alongside his family. Even on tough days, he finds joy in Legos and moments with his little brother, Emilio—reminders of the childhood we’re fighting to preserve. His family has adapted to a new reality, balancing medical needs with everyday life, buoyed by victories like his strong response to chemotherapy and immunotherapy.
That’s where the Armer Foundation steps in. We’re here to ease the financial strain—covering copays, premiums, and essentials—so Diego’s parents can focus on his care, not bills. With an incredible support system of doctors, nurses, and community love surrounding them, we’re proud to be part of their journey, ensuring they’re not alone.
Diego’s courage inspires everything we do, from hospital visits to our upcoming
“Dealing Hope: A Night of Cards & Caring” Poker Tournament on June 21, 2025. Every hand played, every dollar raised, helps families like his face the future with hope. Join us at Reel 1 Studios in Ahwatukee, and deal hope with us—because together, we’re stacking the deck for kids like Diego.
