G.I.R.L.S. Glow Up Celebrates 300 Care Bags Delivered to Phoenix Children’s and Banner Children’s Hospitals

The Armer Foundation for Kids is proud to celebrate a beautiful and meaningful milestone for our G.I.R.L.S. Glow Up Program — 300 care bags have officially been delivered to teen girls receiving care at Phoenix Children’s and Banner Children’s hospitals.

This is more than a number. It represents 300 young girls who received a reminder that they are seen. It represents 300 moments of encouragement. It represents 300 care bags filled with comfort, confidence, and hope. Most importantly, it represents the power of community coming together to support teen girls who are walking through incredibly difficult medical journeys.

For a teenage girl facing illness, treatment, surgery, hospital stays, or time away from school, friends, and everyday life, the emotional impact can be overwhelming. Hospital rooms can feel lonely, treatment days can feel long, and the uncertainty of a medical journey can be heavy. The G.I.R.L.S. Glow Up Program was created to bring a little light into those moments.

Each bag is designed to say: You are strong. You are loved. You are beautiful. You are not alone.

What Is the G.I.R.L.S. Glow Up Program?

The G.I.R.L.S. Glow Up Program is an Armer Foundation for Kids initiative created to support teenage girls ages 13–18 who are facing illness, hospitalization, and medical treatment.

G.I.R.L.S. stands for:

Giving Inspiration, Resilience, Love, and Support

Those words are at the heart of every bag we assemble and every delivery we make. Each care bag is thoughtfully curated with age-appropriate items meant to bring comfort, joy, and encouragement to teen girls during some of the most challenging times in their lives.

These bags may include self-care items, cozy comforts, journals, pens, skincare items, lip balm, blankets, socks, inspirational gifts, handwritten notes, and other thoughtful surprises. Every item is chosen with care, with the hope that it will help brighten a hospital stay and remind each girl of her strength and worth.

While the items inside each bag are special, the message behind them is even more important. A G.I.R.L.S. Glow Up bag is more than a gift — it is a reminder that someone is thinking of her, cheering for her, and standing beside her.

Led by Desert Vista High School Student Hannah Small

This meaningful program is led by Hannah Small, a Desert Vista High School student, whose compassion, leadership, and dedication have helped bring the G.I.R.L.S. Glow Up mission to life.

Hannah recognized that teen girls in the hospital often need more than medical care. They need encouragement. They need comfort. They need moments that help them feel like themselves again. They need reminders that they are still teenagers with dreams, personalities, beauty, confidence, and strength — even while facing illness.

Through Hannah’s leadership, the program has grown into a powerful way to uplift teen girls in local children’s hospitals. She has helped organize donations, gather supplies, assemble care bags, and support deliveries to hospitals throughout the Greater Phoenix area. Her work reflects the heart of the program: young women supporting young women through kindness, compassion, and action.

Hannah’s dedication is a beautiful example of what can happen when one person sees a need and chooses to do something about it. Her commitment has already helped bring comfort and encouragement to hundreds of girls, and her leadership continues to inspire others to get involved.

“Hannah’s heart for others is truly inspiring,” said Jennifer Armer, Founder of the Armer Foundation for Kids. “She saw a need and stepped forward with compassion, leadership, and purpose. Because of her dedication, hundreds of teen girls have received a reminder that they are not forgotten, and that their community is standing beside them.”

Why This Program Matters

A hospital stay can be difficult for any child, but the teenage years bring unique challenges. Teen girls may be missing school events, friendships, sports, dances, milestones, and normal moments that many of their peers are experiencing. At a time when identity, confidence, and connection matter so much, illness can make a young girl feel isolated and different.

That is why G.I.R.L.S. Glow Up exists.

The program was created to help teen girls feel encouraged, valued, and supported. A care bag cannot take away a diagnosis or erase the challenges of treatment, but it can provide a meaningful moment of comfort. It can bring a smile. It can offer a distraction. It can help a girl feel cared for during a hard day.

Sometimes, a small act of kindness can make a lasting impact.

When a girl opens a G.I.R.L.S. Glow Up bag, we hope she feels the love that went into it. We hope she feels the encouragement behind every item. We hope she knows that her community sees her courage and is standing beside her.

300 Bags Delivered — and More Girls to Reach

Delivering 300 care bags to Phoenix Children’s and Banner Children’s hospitals is an incredible milestone for the G.I.R.L.S. Glow Up Program. We are deeply grateful to everyone who has donated, shared, volunteered, assembled bags, written notes, and helped support this mission.

Because of this community, 300 teen girls have received a reminder that they are strong, beautiful, loved, and not alone.

But our work is not done.

There are still more girls to reach, more care bags to assemble, and more moments of encouragement to create. To continue serving teen girls at local children’s hospitals, we now need help restocking our supplies.
